Well I'm here, sitting and waiting
05.31.04 (4:42 pm) [edit]
I made it to Ft. Benning. I'm here at the CRC site with many other people, civilians, soldiers, and sailors alike. It's very odd being around other services and such, but kind of nice. Most of the people are very relaxed, they knew they were leaving their home, as they are on active duty. Still we're being treated decent. I haven't gotten much sleep as we have late nights and get up early, so I plan on going to be early tonight. We got done at Medical today. That was a big joke, the doc looked at my paperwork, asked me what my lexapro was for and when I told him anxiety and depression, he's like, ok, no biggy, here's a rx for more pills. During peacetime I was 'non-deployable' because of those meds. LOL how things change when they need you!
Tmw we do more paperwork and get our gear from CIF, then weds. we have to qualify again, and thurs we get our desert uniforms, then somewhere between Friday and Sunday I'll be shipping out. Looks like I'm going to Afghanistan, but after that, i don't know! I'll have to see when I get there!
I will try to call people during this week, but I only can as the lines at the phone allows and such. I have an easier time getting online, as not many people brought computers. They do have a nice rec room with TV's, pool tables and internet hookups, so it's much better than nothing!
I miss everyone very much, but luckily I'm with people I met at Ft. Sill, so I know a few people here besides Sgt. Creep and I am hanging with them.
I'll write more tmw!

The Military Intelligence Corps Mission
05.28.04 (2:19 pm) [edit]
[image]kratesis_183711185 .gif[/image]

The US Army Intelligence Corps finds as many of the anti-American bastards and their subhuman cohorts as possible and determines what these slimy creeps are up to, in order to facilitate their absolute defeat in the quickest manner possible with the least expenditure of sacred American lives.

I finally have some news!
05.26.04 (3:52 pm) [edit]
Well today was my last day of class, we finished early and I'm just waiting for Tim to get here now.
Now on to the news.....DRUMROLL.....
We got phone confirmation on our orders today, Good News - I'm not going to Iraq Bad News - I'm going to Afghanistan, and with Sgt Creep.
We graduate tmw and then go get our orders and plane tickets. Next stop is Ft. Benning where we get more shots and get our gear, and then head overseas. Hopefully I won't be stuck w/ Sgt Creep for the long term, if i am, I'm going to have to turn into a royal bitch to keep him away from me. I'm hoping when I see my orders tmw, there will be more detailed info on where over there I'm going!!!
On a good note, Tim will be here tonight so we'll get to spend a few days together before I leave, which is a good thing!

waiting sucks
05.24.04 (4:45 pm) [edit]
Well hopefully I'll find out tmw where in the world I'm going! We have 1 section in class left to do, so we're stretching it out so we graduate on Thursday ( the earliest they will let us). Timmay is flying out Weds night so we can spend until sunday together, when I have to go onto another post, which one I don't know yet. I'm slowly weeding out 'stuff' I won't need overseas, well more like, can get along without. I have to haul everything myself, so I'm gonna pack light!! I figure I can have stuff sent to me later if i need it.
I'm really hoping I don't go to Iraq, but everyone else in our group has been sent there so far... So that's what I'm expecting, that way I'm prepared for it, and if I go someplace else I can be happy about it!
I heard from my friend Misty today, took her a few days to reply (she's in Baghdad). She's ok, keeping very busy with everything that is going on. I'm hoping that if i do end up over there I end up by her so at least I know someone! Other than waiting to hear something, I'm just waiting. I've passed this portion of the exam, so I'm just hanging out and reading. i've done the exercises I have to do, so I'm just keeping quiet in back while SGT Creep tumbles about. Heheh for yall's sake, I'd better not end up being deployed with him!!!!!!! The bitching will never end!!!!!!!

Almost the end of the week...
05.21.04 (4:45 pm) [edit]
Ok I'm getting frazzled. Of course this can't compare to wherever I am most likely going. I just don't have anyone here to vent to, to laugh with, and it's hard to do that w/ all the people I would normally, over the phone or email.
So I'm in a crabby mood today, no reason why, just am. Is it because I'm tired from getting up before it's light every morning? Is it because I'm annoyed w/ the stupid people I'm in class with? Is it because the army still finds some way to screw with my pay? Is it because I miss my family and friends? Is it because I'm overweight and surrounded by healthy fit people who look at me odd? Is it just because???? Probably all those things.
I hate working out. I feel there are so many other things I'd rather do, should do. But I've been making myself go, well I finally pushed myself today. I rode the bicycle for 1 1/4, rode 10 miles, went as fast as my legs would pedal, and I pushed myself. I feel a bit better now, all the adreniline must be doing it, we'll see how long it lasts.
We are 3 days ahead in class, but the civilian in charge of the course will only let us graduate a day earlier than planned, so we're stretching out the course and reading a lot of magazines. We don't need to go in tomorrow, but we have to, 'to keep up w/ the training schedule'.
I'm still having issues playing CoH, so I'm going to cancel my account. I will keep the game and play when I get back home, even if the gang isn't. I bought Jedi Academy last night. I played the demo and really enjoyed it. It's a game that I can play online, but also solo, so when I don't have internet access I can still be occupied. It's also good for frustrations, keeps me from shooting or punching real people!

05.19.04 (6:58 pm) [edit]
Well I haven't posted in a few days, partially because there hasn't been much going on, and partly because tblog was moving to a new server so my site was down for a bit. Can't complain too much, it's free after all!
We finished another block of instruction today, after the test the instructor chewed out Sgt Creep and Sgt J, saying you guys barely passed but you passed. He also said they needed to step it up a notch because they wouldn't get by in the real army. Then he looked at me and said, SPC Morrison, you aced another test, you have retained a lot, I commend you for that. TALK ABOUT MAKE ME FEEL GOOD! Someone finally noticed that I'm doing something good! LOL
The G3 is submitting our requests for orders tmw, so hopefully I'll know where I'm going by sometime next week. I also got my travel advance so I can eat out now! Sout at Hand was gettin kinda old!
Tmw I'll be posting on some current news topics... I'm too tired tonight.

On the Upside
05.15.04 (5:14 pm) [edit]
Well I had a lil luck swing my way today. Sgt Creepo bought a playstation and decided to stay holed up in his hotel the rest of the weekend so I have the car. Luck part one.
Luck part 2 is that I had to change rooms at the hotel, because someone had booked my room. I opened the door and holy shit! I have a king sized bed, nice tv and a recliner, the room is huge!!!!!
I am still waiting for a travel advance, although they said it was approved.....we'll see! The simplist things make me so happy now!
Well i'm off to drink some beer, sit in my pjs, and watch a dvd on my new laptop. Ahhh the good life....

Almost the end of the week!
05.13.04 (6:49 pm) [edit]
Well I found out some good news today.... The only portions of the final test I have to take, and get right, are the ones that I didn't pass in the pre assessment test. I f$#%#ed up on 2 portions (I know what i did) so thats the only part I have to do. The bad side is that I still have to sit through all of the instruction.... oh well!
FGM, glad you're checking in, I MISS YOU!
HI Noel, now that you have a tooth, pretty soon you'll be gaming w/ the group!

Hugs everyone

Oh and top of everything else, the Army still hasen't paid me, or given me a credit card or travel advance, so I'm paying for all my food and lodging out of pocket, hoping to be reimbursed. They don't have any on post housing and told us just to find something...

Ok I'm surrounded by idiots
05.12.04 (6:55 pm) [edit]
Ok so I'm smart, not too smart, but not dumb (except for my blond moments). Today we took our MOS assessment test, the first part at least, which covers the first half of the 16 week course we go through when we go into the army. I thought, ok, no stress, I'm rusty, but I should be ok. Well I was, I passed all the tests today. Now mind you, before we started, the instructor told us that if all three of us in the course pass a certain block of the test, we wouldn't have to go over it in the course. But if even one of us didn't pass, we'd all have to go through it. Well lucky me, I'm stuck w/ a guy who has the MOS but got it through reserve training instead of active component and has never DONE the job, and then the SGT Creepo that thinks he's smart but in actuality, HE"S A MORON!!!!
Ok so back to the tests. I passed all mine. Now mind you, I didn't ace them, I'm not even going to claim that, because I am rusty in many areas, but I managed to clammer through all the references and get most of it right, and what I missed I know what I did wrong. Neither SGT Creepo or the other Sgt have passed their assessments. So guess what I'll be doing for the next three weeks?? POKING MY EYES OUT! Honey I hope you like blind chicks!
We finish up the assessment tmw, and start training. Oh, btw, training is 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. OH JOY! At least I have good friends and family that let me vent and this lovely blog where I can pound out all my frustrations on my new laptop keyboard!

I've 'checked' in
05.10.04 (12:11 pm) [edit]
Well after begging and pleading with Page, the manager at the Sun Canyon Inn, she's worked it so I only have to move once or twice, and I get to stay in the hotel the whole time. YAY! A big thanks to Page!
I'm stuck w/ Sgt. Sargent (aka Creep Boy). We do have a vehicle to share, so we're going to trade off every few days so we can each do our errands.
I don't have anything else to do until Weds, when I go in early and take my assessment exam. Hopefully that goes well! After that, who knows!! They are good about keeping info to themselves until the last possible moment!
The place I'm staying is older, but still pretty nice. I have a nice big tv w/ cable, a computer to use downstairs, a fitness room, laundry facilities, and a 'happy' hour during the week. They also provide a hot breakfast which is included. Hopefully I'll be able to get a laptop soon, hubby permission required, and I will be able to game in my room and surf the net. They charge $1 per day for access, WOW CHEAP!!!

End to a Sweet Weekend
05.09.04 (7:29 am) [edit]
Well we braved the hot dry air and decided to go to the Titan II Missile Museum. This place has the LAST Titan II Missile still in it's silo. It took an act of Congress to turn it into a Museum, and it is constantly viewed by Russian Satelites to be sure it won't be launched. Here's some pics: [image]kratesis_762572401 .jpg[/image][image]kratesi s_1187505228.jpg[/image]
We got to tour the entire facility, look at the control room which was still operational, and do a mock firing sequence. Some of the volunteers that did the tour actually worked on the site while it was operational.
After we went to the museum, we drove to a mall, which didn't have any stores really, but it did have a movie theater, so we went to see [url=http://www.vanhelsing.net/]Van Helsing[/url] . It was a decent movie, but along w/ most, the hollywood play ups were incredible....Oh well, a good flick in my view, great inventions by the friar, but a lil overboard. One thing that concerned me were the large amts of SMALL children in the theater....Like ages 3 and 4. I don't mind parents deciding when their children can see what, but they were clearly scared through the entire film. What's the point of that???
On to another mall, which actually had stores, although they catered to all the anorexic youngins that were trolling the premises. Old Navy didn't even have 'large' sizes. WTF?!?! We saw about 50 gurls in short mini skirts, and 25 in tube tops, non of which I'm knocking, but com'n, get some meat on the bones gurls! Their hip bones looked like they were going to poke out their skin!!!! With all that in mind, Timmay and I decided we were hungry  and went to Red Lobster for dinner.
Now it's Sunday, Tim's gonna drive me to my hotel, and then he'll leave to go to the airport. I wish he'd either take me with him, or leave his laptop for me!!!!

Well folks, I made it to AZ. It's hot as hell here.... 95 today. Maybe they're trying to tell me something, hmmm?
Well Timmay is here, YAY! We're going for mexican food tonight (I'm already tired of bland DEFAC food) and then maybe a movie.
I don't have to report til Monday, so we'll play tourist this weekend and enjoy the time together. I'll have email this weekend and IM, so hopefully I'll catch some of ya!

YAY! They finally got their heads out of their asses over at medical so I'm [b]DONE[/b]! I have my orders and now I'm just waiting for LT to get back with my plane tickets. I get to see my hubby this weekend!!!!
Now for some updates regarding my refresher course. I got an email from one of the instructors at Huachuca. Class will be about 3 weeks long, 10 hours days, 6 days a week. When I show up, they will give me a test to determine what they need to focus on. Out of the three of us that will be in this class, I'm the most 96B proficient. One guy has never done the job, the other is an idiot. He's the one that gives me the creeps, so I try to stay as far away from him [b]AS POSSIBLE[/b]!
A week before the class ends, they are supposed to tell me where I will be going to. Also, they don't have any housing for us, so I have to try to find a hotel off posts that will lodge me for a month....not an easy thing to do in Sierra Vista. Hopefully I can find a decent place!
It's so nice being able to see pics of the friends and family, makes me feel like I'm not so far away!

Well I was supposed to clear out of the SRP today. That was until I got to the site and they said, sorry, we still haven't fixed your test results, come back tmw.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRR
So another day down the drain, I'm helping the Drill Sgt get packets together for the next group. If I get my request in for orders in by friday I can travel this weekend, but he can't turn those in until I clear out of medical....doesn't look good.
We'll see!
And the army wonders why people are getting out and aren't reinlisting and aren't joining? Maybe if they got their shit together and took care of their soldiers, then it would be a lil more enjoyable to be here.
Dad sent me pictures of their trip last night. I'll be posting the link for them in a sec, so yall can see them. It will be in the left hand corner of the blog, title Texas pics.

Hey Scuba people, maybe we'll have a new sunken boat to look at!
From an article my father found:
Nude beach sparks barge flip
From correspondents in Austin, Texas
May 3, 2004

PARTYGOERS wanting a glimpse of nude sunbathers at the only nude beach in Texas rushed to one side of a barge, prompting it capsize and dump all 60 people into Lake Travis.

Two people were hospitalised with minor injuries yesterday after the rented double-decker barge sank near Hippie Hollow, a lakeside park and the only public nude beach in Texas.

The accident occurred during Splash Day, a semiannual event hosted at the clothing-optional area by the Austin Tavern Guild, a gay and lesbian association.

Witnesses said that all of the people aboard the barge moved to one side as it neared Hippie Hollow, making it tilt.

Krista Umscheid, a spokeswoman for the Lower Colorado River Authority, said that although everyone aboard was accounted for, Travis County sheriff's divers were checking compartments of the sunken pontoon boat as a precaution.

ahhh they're driving me crazy!!!
05.04.04 (7:07 am) [edit]
Ok so I'm still here, with the same people, the same ANNOYING people. Now they seem to think that since the Drill asked me to check out his computer and fix it, they are all experts now. GRRRRRR
Anyways, I'm just chilling today, since I'm just waiting on a stupid test before I can get outta here!!
I'm hoping that I know ASAP where I'm going so I can get my computer sent to me.
I went for a long walk last night after dinner (well long for me), turns out I walked about 1 1/4 miles, I was tired after, but not sore this morning, except for my stinkin back.... I feel sooo OLD....
Things were much easier the first time around as I recall... I see these basic training soldiers roaming around, hearing their conversations, all their big dreams. Thats all they talk about, because they have nothing else to do but dream. It's really sad. Of course, in a few months, I'm sure I'll be in the same situation, except my dream is to just go home!!!
I miss you all so much.

In the ARMY again!!
05.03.04 (9:56 am) [edit]
Well I thought today would be the day that I was done with my inprocessing. I should have known better. I spent 2 hours sitting in medical, waiting for my HIV results to come back so they could clear me....Guess what??? 3 of us got screwed because someone entered our names in the DB wrong. So we have to wait until WEDS before they can clear us out of medical ARG!!! Oh well, hurry up and wait as they say... I just hope I get to Huachuca before Timmay leaves!!!!
Brenna! Please comment the url for Noel's page please! I don't have it with me!!
I miss you all so much! Today was my first day of homesickness...there was a stupid pet ad on TV for DOG FOOD and that's what got me.. heheheh
I'll try to post again tmw, if I can get onto a computer!!!!

Finally found a stinkin computer!!!
05.01.04 (1:59 pm) [edit]
Hola all!
Well I'm here at Ft. Sill, filling out Tons of paperwork, and getting poked with needles and getting shots. I finally found a computer I had access to today, so I'm updating my blog and catching up on email. Unfortunately, I can't install a messenger on this system (no privelages) but hopefully when I get to Huachuca, I'll know where I'm going and get my own system.
Ok, now for the update on me: I finally got new uniforms, only 2 however, because the army is almost OUT of green ones! They've only been making the tan sets (I wonder why!??!?) and so they are limiting who gets new ones. I've been going through reception, updating paperwork, getting ID card, got 5 shots, and lots of blood drawn (that was a fiasco) and have qualified with my trusty M16 A2 rifle. 33 out of 40 (not too bad eh?) I will be leaving Ft. Sill sometime next week. All we have to do is finish up our Common Tast Training, and then I'm off to do refresher training at Ft. Huachuca. I'm not quite sure how long I'll be there, but I know a week before I graduate where I'm going to. The 'rumor' or 'educated guess' I've been getting from people is that I'm either going to Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, or if I'm lucky, I'll stay in Florida where the unit I'll be with is out of.... Keep your fingers crossed for Florida!!! But the realistic thing is, Justin, you're gonna get your turbin.... :?
I've met some other people here in the same sit or worse than me. There's 6 of us here right now, the other 4 are AWOL. 2 Lt. Col. got called up, a Major who had been out of the army for 15 years, and a Colonel who had been out 20... There's another SPC here with me, she has a 17 month old son whom she had to leave. We also have 2 Sgts here that are leaving their families as well. We all have our own story to tell, but we're dealing with it, and have been making the best of the ordeal. There doesn't seem to be any ryhm or reason to this call-up, but it's the Army, no suprise there!!!
I miss you all very much and as I get time I will call you and say hi!!!
Mahoney, I know about Dakota, don't stress too much, and thank you for doing all you can to look for her. It means a lot to me and I'm sure it does to the gurls as well.
Bren, hope the candles haven't driven you crazy yet. please call me any time w/ questions!!!
For everyone else~more messages later! I'm being kicked of the puter.... write more when i get to my next location!!!
