Ahhh the Navy and Officers..... how do they survive?

Today was an interesting day. We went to CIF this morning, and got all our gear for our deployment. Not only did I get my tan uniforms, but I also drew my weapon. I have to carry the sucker from here to Afghanistan with me!! Apparently they will give me special paperwork to check it onto the commercial planes. It will be odd carrying an M16 into the airport!!!
After we got 2 duffle bags full of gear, we went through the SRP, checking out paperwork to make sure everything was correct. Since we are going to the range tmw to fire (again) we had to put our helmets, LBE (tactical vests) and protective masks together tonight. Well apparently no one in the Navy has this stuff. And apparently none of the Army officers have ever done it either, because I sat at a group of picnic tables for 3 hours tonight helping about 40 people put their shit together. Needless to say, I'm everyone's lifesaver right now. I got in good with the officers, which will help me out downrange ;-). I'm just amazed that this entire time, these officers have had people put their stuff together for them, they've never had to do it themselves. So I showed them, and helped them, but made them do it themselves, because they will have to know how to do it when we get downrange. So now i'm tired, and full (the chow hall was good tonight), and ready for bed.........

maybe you will get arrested in the airport for caring a firearm..and they will let you come home...but then i guess you would be in jail...and...that probably wouldn't be fun either...heheh...we miss you a ton...but you almost have a month down!!! so thats good...i just wish we could visit you...way to get in good with the officers tho!!!
