I leave for my temporary job at UNAMA tomorrow.  Shouldn't be too bad w/ germs because I'm in a room with only one other person and most people don't have the clearance over there to GET into the room I'm in, so I should be ok. Plus I get to eat REAL GOOD FOOD while I'm there. I have to pay for it, but it's worth it.

I'm starting weight training with my DIA Analyst friend, Leah this week. I've kinda hit a plateau and need to tone up to help burn calories and lose some inches.  My pants are so loose I can take them off without unbuttoning them. Can you believe it?!??! :-) I have a pair of 12's in my closet, that I should be able to wear as soon as the elections are over.... then I'd like to get down to a 10 and i'll be happy. I'm trying to focus on size more than weight.  Most I want to be healthy before I have childen and have a healthy lifestyle...

I got my leave for December approved by my commander today, so I took it to J1 to be put on the manifest for a flight. I should know in November my exact flight info.  I also got my promotion letter signed today, and that is sent out, so hopefully in the next few weeks I will be promoted to SGT.  WAHOO!  Not a lot of difference here, but more money, and I can say I made it to SGT before I got out. 

Things are likely to get hairy here in the next week and a half, but please try not to worry. I convinced my boss to let me take my rifle to UNAMA with me (UN doesn't like weapons but doesn't typically allow rifles PERIOD) but I told them I wasn't going to work there or WALK THERE EVERY DAY with no weapon. SOOOO they're letting me. hehehe.  I am an expert with my trusty M16, I am trained to do my job, and be a soldier, and I will do what I have to do to come home safe.  Thank you to everyone who has supported me while I'm here, It's appreciated more than you'll ever know.  Not only is this an important time for the people of Afghanistan, but what happens here affects us all in the world.  Please send positive thoughts to the people of Afghanistan that they make a good decision when they vote, and that they will be able to turn this country around.  If these elections are botched, then we have some serious issues on our hands.  I will try to update every couple of days while I'm working at UNAMA, so don't be suprised if it's not every day.
